A new champion was crowned on Saturday night as NJ/NY Gotham FC earned a NWSL Championship trophy following a worst-to-first campaign from last year to now. Gotham produced a 2-1 win as it relied on goals from forwards Lynn Williams and Esther González to best a Reign side that got on the scoresheet via midfielder Rose Lavelle in the first half.

  16. Why Americans have no idea how to edit soccer highlights? 10 seconds for the goal action, 15 seconds for a chance, and 30 seconds replaying the same goal/chance!
    Put more time how the goal action started, let us enjoy celebration, no need for replaying three times the same action, we have "back" button if we want to!

  18. Rapinoe? Is that the one who demands the same pay as men, but was allowed to knock on wood during Corona so that she continued to be paid while the men went away empty-handed? Or was that the one who kept quiet about the fact that the women's soccer players were offered the same conditions as the men, with the potential for significantly more salary, but also more risk if they don't perform? Or was that the one that said they were playing at the same level as the men and was then torn apart by a youth team? But clearly she is a better person! Although a better person doesn't have to emphasize this to the outside world! No loss for the sports world

  21. Ironically, Meghan Rapinoe's stellar career had an ignominious end, with being injured "off the ball" through a misstep, and to be helped off the field. I am sure she would have hoped for a different ending.

  23. Only in American sports you can finish bottom of the table one season and win the championship the next one. Not saying it like a good thing though. But hats off to the players and coach of Gotham FC: the Spaniards raised their level but all of them have been awesome. Congrats!

  24. Imagine if OL Reign equalized on the free kick they got after Gotham's goalie got a red card and an outfield player had to step in… I am very sure OL Reign would trash them with at least seven goals by taking a series of long shots!! 😀

  30. That shot by Esther Gonzalez was awesome! 👍👍 Was really surprised how well FC Gotham played, although in the last couple games I`d seen `em play, it looked like they had really been practicing.

  31. I don't have a NWSL club that I support but I wanted Gothem to win because I like Spain's women's national team and Esther plays for them. I'm happy Gothem won it this year. Congrats!
