Griez should have been captain considering the amount of work he does and length of time his played for France. Mbappe is the best player in the world but the only thing with Mbappe is attitude, when he doesn't get what he wants he can be a bit of a diva. Lets see how he does. Griezmann is a hard working vet who can keep his emotions under check.

Usually (but not always) the captaincy is given to the player with the most caps/appearances. Also, a national team captain needs to play regularly. In the case France, Lloris and Varane have more caps than Mbappe but retired. Pogba also have more caps but he is always injured. The only other candidates are Giroud and Griezman, but their place in the team is not secured in the long run. Mbappe is next in line in term of caps and more importantly his place is secured for the foreseeable future.
I love 🇫🇷 and mbappe but I feel like they did this because they know that he was probably going to go to Madrid 😂

Griezmann should be the Captain as he has more playing experience. Mbappe doesn’t have the qualities of a Captain yet and he’s just not ready yet. Mbappe can be the future Captain.
Deschamps is one of the most successful managers when it comes to national teams in history of football. He won World Cup and Euro as a player. He won WC, riched the final of WC 4 years later again, he won silver medal at European Championship and Nations League trophy as a coach. And you people wany to tell me with the whole experience he has he doesn't know how to choose the right person to be a captain of his team? Funny. If he picked Mbappe it means Mbappe is ready for it, he is loved, respected and accepted by others. This will also help him to develop as a player and as a person. People need to stop hating on him. Time to accept the fact that new generation is taking over.
