10 Tips For Choosing Soccer Coaching Courses

If you’re been looking at soccer coaching courses, then perhaps you will have narrowed your choices down a bit, or perhaps you are still none the wiser.

if you still haven’t decided, here are 10 tips for choosing the right soccer coaching course for you:

1. Have you heard of the coach / company? If you have heard of the coach or the company, are their courses recommended because they’re good, or is the coach just cashing in on their name.  Are they well established, or a new company?  If you haven’t heard of the company, it might be that the coach is a well respected coach, rather than a former player.

2. What success has the coach had? If they’ve been a successful professional with international caps, or coached at the highest level, or discovered some of your favourite players, then they are probably worth listening to.  If they used to play non-league football, but never made it as a pro, are they good enough to teach you?

3. What success have they had? If you know some of the players that they have coached, or some of the successes they have achieved, then this may be enough to convince you that this is the right soccer coaching course for you.

4. Are they local? Depending on how far you have to travel will determine how much you or your children get out of the course.  If you have to travel a couple of hours each way, for a week, it makes the days very long and tiring, and so less enjoyable for parents and children alike

5. If you’ve found a couple of courses, what is the price difference, and is it worth it? Might it be worth paying more for a nearer course, or to have a more renowned coach?

6. What else do they offer? If it seems like there are more gifts and goodies than coaching, is this really the course you want?

7. What do competitors offer? By knowing what competitors offer, you’ll be able to see which courses represent the best value, and will be better for you or your children.

8. What contact is there afterwards? Is there any follow up, or feedback, how will the coaches know if their course is a success?

9. Is it just soccer coaching, or is there more to it.  What about how to impress a scout, or how to get over a loss of form, or how to prevent injuries?

10. Can you contact someone who’s been on one of the courses you’re considering?  You’ll learn about the coaching methods, and whether this course is really right for you or your children.

Now you know more about Soccer Coaching Courses, you’ll be able to choose the right one for you or your children.

HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal vs Chelsea (4-0) | Gabriel Jesus, Odegaard, Saka, Lokonga | USA 2022

A thoroughly deserved win over Chelsea was the perfect way to round off a successful pre-season tour to the USA.

We looked to take charge of this Florida Cup match from the first whistle, and unsurprisingly it was Gabriel Jesus who put us ahead with his fourth goal of pre-season.

Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka ensured we had a scoreline befitting of our performance, adding our second and third either side of the interval.

Playing the third and final game of tour, we looked sharp from the off, creating the first clear chance after just five minutes.

Defending a corner, Gabriel Martinelli nicked the ball on the edge of his own box and sprinted forward on the counter-attack, in a move very reminiscent of his famous goal at Stamford Bridge in January 2020.

This time however he elected to pass to Saka on the overlap, and his shot was saved by Edouard Mendy.

We continued to look the more likely scorers in the opening exchanges. Oleksandr Zinchenko – on his first appearance for us – was getting forward well on the left and had a shot charged down when he found space inside the box.

Shortly afterwards though we did get the goal our pressure merited, and what a finish it was. Granit Xhaka fired a first-time pass into the path of Jesus, who advanced on the keeper and casually dinked the ball over him for the opener.

The second was another well worked goal. Martinelli held onto possession just long enough for Odegaard to make his run into the box, before slipping the ball into his path. The captain did the rest, sliding his shot low into the corner.

It was one-way traffic in the first half. Thomas Partey was the next to go close, shooting just over from 20 yards out.

Odegaard, Saka and Jesus were beginning to enjoy themselves, with some wonderful one-touch passing and flicks – much to the delight of the vocal Arsenal support in the sell-out 63,000 capacity Camping World Stadium in Florida.

Despite our dominance in the opening 45 minutes, Chelsea so nearly pulled one back before the break, but Mason Mount’s effort struck the upright.

We kept up the tempo in the second half, and shortly after the hour mark we made it 3-0.

Martinelli drew a diving stop from Mendy on the volley, it fell to Granit Xhaka who flicked the ball up before firing another shot at the Chelsea keeper. But it was third time lucky as Saka thumped home the rebound into the roof of the net.

Mikel Arteta sent on Marquinhos for his non-competitive debut, on the right wing, as Sambi Lokonga got in the act in the closing stages with a composed header at the far post, helping us to seal a comfortable win.

At the final whistle we were presented with the Florida Cup, ensuring a memorable 10-day trip to America ended on a high.

Never Bet on Big Soccer Underdogs

As almost every professional bettor will tell you, backing heavy favourites is a sure fire way to the poorhouse. That’s common knowledge, right? Perhaps, but there’s one problem with that type of thinking: it’s dead wrong.

The received wisdom is the linesmakers skew their odds on heavy favourites because the public love betting on the best teams. The bookies no doubt see a flurry of parlays involving clubs like Chelsea, Barcelona and Juventus every weekend. Surely there’s value in taking the underdog in these situations, isn’t there?

In fact, numerous studies have shown that blindly backing long shots is a losing proposition in the long term. To see why that is the case, we have to understand how a bookmaker operates. Since the bookies take most of their action on short-priced favourites, it’s often assumed they are exposed to big liabilities if all the hot teams win. While this is sometimes the case, and many bookmakers suffer months of huge losses, there are several ways a bookie can protect himself.

It’s important to remember that most heavy favourites are combined in parlays involving at least three teams. A bookmaker only needs one loser to take his customer’s money. As a result, there’s little need to lower the odds on a «public» team. Many sportsbooks will even inflate the odds of a hot favourite to attract new customers, safe in the knowledge that parlay players won’t hurt their bottom line.

If the favourite’s odds are an accurate reflection of it’s true probability of winning, the bookmaker must make adjustments elsewhere. That usually means offering worse odds on the underdog and the draw. Understanding the concept of theoretical hold can make this clearer.

When creating lines, a sportsbook will offer odds on each team that give it a slight edge, ensuring a profit no matter how the game turns out. This is called the Theoretical Hold and is expressed as a percentage. It represents the combined amount of customers’ bets that the bookmaker expects to keep.

It’s called theoretical because in reality a bookmaker rarely has balanced action on all sides. If a bookie takes the bulk of his bets on a heavy favourite, he can offer it at a more generous price and accept a smaller profit margin. Short-priced favourites generally have small margins, but high volumes. Bigger odds mean bigger margins. There’s little incentive for a bookie to offer competitive odds on a big underdog if he doesn’t expect much betting interest in that team.

For evidence of this, look no further than the betting exchanges. At Betfair, for example, the theoretical hold on a soccer money line is usually 1-2%, compared with around 11% at traditional bookmakers. Because the hold is so low and the percent market is close to 100%, the exchanges represent an almost perfect market. They can give us a closer indication of the true probability of an event happening. The following table shows the odds available at several bookmakers for an upcoming match between Qatar and Argentina:

Bookmaker Qatar Draw Argentina Theoretical Hold

Betfair +1800 +660 -500 1.72%

Nordicbet +1100 +445 -500 9.10%

Bet365 +1000 +400 -500 11.05%

Interwetten +900 +400 -667 14.5%

Admiral +850 +365 -455 12.28%

Two things are immediately striking. An exchange like Betfair has significantly better odds on Qatar and the draw, which are the less probable outcomes of this game. But Betfair’s odds on Argentina, the heavy favourite, are in line with the prices offered by traditional bookmakers. In fact, even though Betfair’s market has razor thin margins, it can’t beat the odds on Argentina offered by Admiral, a bookie with a theoretical hold over 12%!

What can we learn from this? If the exchanges are a nearly perfect market, they prove that heavy favourites are fairly priced at the traditional bookmakers, but underdogs are massively underpriced and poor value. Some research has shown that backing all short priced favourites (at -500 or greater) is a profitable proposition in the long term. Now we can understand why. As a general rule, only bet on long shots at the exchanges; if you like to play favourites, stick with the traditional bookies.

Lionel Messi the Successor of Diego Maradona

Lionel Messi was born in Rosario city on June 24, 1987. He started playing football at the age of five for Grandoli, a club coached by his father. Messi switched to Newell’s Old Boys in 1995. At the age of 11, he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency. Every month Messi required treatment for the illness that cost over 500 Pounds. River Plate showed interest in Messi’s progress, but did not have enough money to pay for his treatment. FC Barcelona was made aware of Messi talent. After watching him play, Barcelona signed him and offer to pay for the medical bills if he was willing to move to Spain.

Messi is a player with exceptional quality. He is highly creative, and has the skills to take on defenders with ease. He is a versatile left-footed player who can play either in the middle or on either wing, or even as a centre forward. Messi makes up for the lack of height with his speed and agility. His sudden changes in pace make him a true problem for the defenders. In addition, his accurate powerful shot make him truly unique in free kick and corner situations. He has drawn comparisons to Diego Maradona, and indeed Maradona himself named Messi his «successor».

In club football, Messi made his debut against Espanyol on October 16, 2004, becoming the third-youngest player ever to play for FC Barcelona and youngest club player who played in La Liga at that that time (a record broken by team mate Bojan Krkic in September 2007). He scored his first senior goal against Albacete Balompié on May 1, 2005. Messi was 17 years, 10 months and 7 days old at that time, becoming the youngest player to ever score in a La Liga game for FC Barcelona until 2007 when Bojan Krkic broke this record.

Messi won the Under 20 World Cup in Holland with Argentina. He was crowned the leading goalscorer and voted best player in the tournament. Aged 18 years, he had become one of the hottest properties in the world game. Shortly after, he made his first full international appearance in a friendly against Hungary. In 2005, José Pekerman called Messi up to the senior Argentine national team. He made his debut on August 17, 2005 against Hungary. He was sent off in the 63rd minute, just 40 seconds after he came in as a substitute. The referee found Messi to have elbowed defender Vilmos Vanczák, who was tugging Messi’s shirt. He left the pitch disappointed and in tears.

Since then, Lionel Messi has developed into a more complete and mature player. There are still many years left in his career. Everyone is waiting for him to emulate Diego Maradona success by guiding Argentina to win the World Cup again.

Real Madrid – One of the Best Football Clubs of the Century

Real Madrid is a professional football club based in Madrid, Spain. It is the most successful team in Spanish football and was voted by FIFA as the most successful club of the 20th century, having won a record thirty-one La Liga titles, seventeen Spanish Cups, a record nine European Cups and two UEFA Cups.

Real Madrid was founded in 1902 and has spent all of its history in the top flight of Spanish football. In the 1940s, the club, the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and the Ciudad Deportiva were rebuilt following the Spanish Civil War. During the 1950s, the club was reckoned as a major force in both Spanish and European football.

In the 1980s, the club had one of the best teams in Spain and Europe, winning two UEFA Cups, five Spanish championships in a row, one Spanish cup and three Spanish Super Cups. The team plays on home ground in an all-white equipment. The team also has two more equipments: blue and black. Real’s stadium is the 80,354-person-capacity Santiago Bernabeu in downtown Madrid, where it has played since 1947.

The club holds long-standing rivalries with some other clubs; the most notable of these is with FC Barcelona, the two teams regularly contesting the match called «El Clasico». Unlike most European football clubs, Real Madrid’s members have owned and operated the club since its beginning. The club is the world’s richest football club (EUR351million) in terms of revenue and the second most valuable (worth over EUR950million as of 2008 study).

Transfer News From Barcelona

Unlike their bitter rivals, FC Barcelona entered the summer months quietly. Barca coach, Josep Guardiola, pinpointed the following players:

Franck Ribery

Ever since January, the French winger was considered as priority number 1 for the Catalan club but up until few weeks there weren’t any formal offers. In March, Bayern Munich’s winger went public and expressed his desire for a change of scenery and his statements were considered as a certain sign of player leaving. Things changed significantly once Perez took power in Madrid and appointed Zinedine Zidane as his advisor. The latter is seen as key figure in bringing Ribery closer to Madrid and away from Barcelona.

Javier Mascherano

Argentinian international is the 2nd choice of Pep Guardiola for strengthening the midfield. Reportedly, hard working Liverpool’s player hasn’t settled well in England and would welcome a move to Spain. Main reason for signing Mascherano is seen in African Cup of Nations that takes place this winter and during which Barcelona will have to cope without 2 of their important players: Keita and Yaya Toure.

David Villa

28 year old striker is considered as direct replacement for Samuel Eto. The Cameroonian is set to leave Camp Nou following the differences with FC Barcelona manager. The technical staff sees Villa as the best man to fit the Barca system as he proved to click well with Barcelona’s internationals who also play for Spain: Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol and Pique.

Although it’s still a long way before the transfer window closes, the clubs are looking to complete their squads before the beginning of pre-season matches.
